Two SSPSSR students, Rebecca Westhorpe and Charissa Taylor recently achieved the Introductory Certificate in Fundraising. We would like to congratulate them with this achievement. Rebecca is a SSPSSR taught masters postgraduate and Charissa is an undergraduate student studying Social Sciences based at Medway.
“I am delighted to help SSPSSR students gain a professional qualification in fundraising. Given the skills shortages in the charity sector, and the increasing number of jobs that are available to candidates who can demonstrate an understanding of how to generate voluntary income, I believe this opportunity is a useful addition to the support we give students seeking worthwhile and well-paid careers. ” Dr Beth Breeze, Director, Centre for Philanthropy and Lecturer in Social Policy”
“Having studied the charity sector as part of my degree course at Kent, I learnt that many people who wish to work for charities lack any professional qualification. Therefore I decided to take the opportunity to gain the Introductory Certificate in Fundraising so that I will stand out from other candidates when I apply for jobs.
The university provided me with all the information that I was required to know in order for me to pass the exam, which included facts about who the moderating bodies within fundraising are and who gives the most to charity. Completing the certificate was a really enjoyable experience, and I recommend it to anyone who wishes to work for the voluntary sector!” Charissa Taylor
