Dr Steven Roberts, Lecturer in Social Policy and Sociology in the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research gave written evidence in the form of a circulated memo at a major transatlantic gathering.
Organised by Policy Network and Global Progress and hosted by Danish prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, many centre left party leaders were in attendance including Ed Miliband (UK), Martin O’Malley (US), Diederik Samsom (Netherlands), Thomas Mulcair (Canada), as well as over 150 leading thinkers, policymakers, academics, campaigners.
The conference examined how the centre-left can respond to the global challenges of growth, social stability and declining living standards.
Dr Roberts’ contribution, ‘The reality of downward intergenerational mobility’ can be viewed along with memos and essays from 30 scholars from around Europe.
