Drugs, Crime and Public Health

Alex Stevens has published both a book and an article on illicit drug policy. In his book ‘Drugs, Crime and Public Health‘ he explores how drug policy reflects and reproduces social inequalities. He argues that we need social, not criminal law, solutions to these social problems. In his most recent article, co-authored with Caitlin Hughes, he presents the lessons that other countries can take from Portugal’s 2001 decriminalisation of illicit drugs
