The School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR) is pleased to announce the availability of a new 3 year PhD studentship in health service research and evaluation.
Based in the renowned Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS), the studentship will include home/EU tuition fees plus an annual maintenance stipend (currently £13,590 per annum for 2013/2014). In addition there is an annual Research Training Support allowance of £750 to cover conference attendance, training courses, equipment and books. This studentship carries no teaching commitments.
Led by Professor Stephen Peckham, the Centre for Health Services Studies (CHSS) is a recognised centre of excellence for health service research and research training. Part of the Department of Health funded Policy Research Unit in Commissioning and the Healthcare System (www.prucomm.ac.uk), CHSS also works in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Manchester.
This studentship is a wonderful opportunity for an individual looking to further their knowledge and career in health service research working alongside experienced academics. The successful student will be supervised by a team comprising at least one senior staff member in CHSS as lead supervisor. Applicants will need to have completed a post-graduate training course at Master’s level equivalent to merit or distinction with a substantial research training component (such as an ESRC recognised training course).
