A British Library event on ethnicity and identity will feature Miri Song, Professor of Sociology at Kent. The event on 13th Nov at the British Library itself will look at whether the public’s obvious delight and celebration of all the diverse members of Team GB, irrespective of individual ethnicities and identities, marks a significant shift in public perceptions towards ethnic identities. What does it mean to be ‘mixed race’? What does ethnicity mean for our image of ourselves and others?
The event will be chaired by Rania Hafez, Director of Post-Compulsory Education at the University of East London and Director of the network Muslim Women in Education; and also speaking will be Ann Phoenix, Professor and Co-Director of the Thomas Coram Research Unit, Institute of Education.
