We are pleased to announce that Trent Grassian is this year’s winner of the School’s 3 Minute thesis competition. Trent, studying for a PhD in social policy, gave a thoughtful and interesting talk on ‘Cutting out the Meat: Motivators, Barriers and Opportunities for the Promotion of Meat Reduction, vegetarianism and veganism’.
The 3MT challenges postgraduate research students to develop their public engagement and communication skills by presenting a short and compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance. It also provides students with an opportunity to publicise their research and themselves as researchers.
Dr Balihar Sanghera, one of the four judges, said “The standard was very high, but we felt Trent deserved to win because his presentation was well-delivered on a very interesting topic that aimed to contribute in an innovative way to the literature on the sociology of consumption.”
