This Thursday the Curzon Cinema in Canterbury is supporting Canterbury Food Bank by the charity screening of ‘I, Daniel Blake’. Food and financial donations will be taken and there will be a short introduction from Canterbury Food Bank Trustee Graham Bough.
A group of staff and students from the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research are using the occasion for an evening out together and as a prompt to donate to the food bank. Organised by Professor Peter Taylor-Gooby, Research Professor of Social Policy and a keen supporter of Canterbury Food Bank, and Dr Triona Fitton from the Centre for Philanthropy, the School collected essential food stuff to top up dwindling supplies. Professor Taylor-Gooby said ‘We are delighted with the support we’ve had for the event. We’ve already collected food and money to support the excellent work done by Canterbury Food Bank. Sometimes we all need a reminder that people can suddenly find themselves unable to feed themselves and their families.’
