Dr Beth Breeze, Director of the Centre for Philanthropy, will appear before the House of Lords charity select committee tomorrow to give evidence on the role of donors in the charity sector.
The House of Lords appointed a Select Committee on Charities to consider issues related to sustaining the charity sector and the challenges of charity governance in May this year.
Dr Breeze’s knowledge is valuable to the Committee. Her core research interests are major donors and major donor fundraisers. She has researched and written the annual ‘Million Pound Donor Report’ since 2008 and is the author of ‘Richer Lives: why rich people give’, ‘The Logic of Charity: Great Expectation in Hard Times’ and ‘The Philanthropy Reader’. She is also involved in research on topics including how donors choose charities, fundraising for unpopular causes, philanthropic journeys, giving circles, and employee fundraising.
During the session, Dr Breeze will speak of the objectives, strategies and expectations of donors and answer questions from the members.
The Committee has a reporting deadline of 31 March 2017.
Links to individual oral evidence sessions and transcripts can be found on the Committees section of the UK Parliament website.
