On 8 September, Dr Trude Sundberg will deliver training to British Embassy staff as part of the Embassy’s learning and development programme.
Numbers and statistics have become part of our daily working – and social – lives. This means that we are frequently presented with, use, interpret and react to numbers. As a result it is increasingly important to be able to accurately interpret, assess and understand how others use and present numerical information.
Entitled ‘Behind the numbers’, Dr Trude Sundberg will talk about some key quantitative concepts which can be used when assessing statistics which help us to get ‘behind’ the numbers. She will also discuss how these can be used to create compelling, accurate and meaningful stories about both positive and negative figures and results.
Dr Trude Sundberg is Lecturer in Social Policy based in the University’s Q-Step Centre which was established to deliver innovative teaching in applied social sciences. For any questions on the Centre, please email qstep-info@kent.ac.uk or visit www.kent.ac.uk/qstep
