CCP shares Rosie1, Rosie2 and Zak with students via Kent Extra

Rosie 1

“Rosie 1” was introduced to Kent Students last week, and will be repeated 15 May for anyone who missed it: Virtually Safe is a computer-based simulation developed by the Centre for Child Protection (CPP) to explore different ways of training social workers. It focuses on communication, listening and decision-making as critical to good practice.

“Rosie 2” is being introduced to Kent Students 27 February and repeated 22 May: A Child Protection Simulation is a computer-based simulation developed by the Centre for Child Protection (CPP). It is a professional learning tool designed to be used by professionals working in child protection – such as social workers, nurses, teachers, the police – to explore and better understand child neglect.

“Zak” is being demonstrated to Kent Students 13 March repeated 5 June: Exploitation and Grooming is a simulation developed by the Centre for Child Protection (CPP). It is designed for young people in schools and colleges, focusing on online grooming and exploitation. “Zak” focuses on a young person’s transition to university and the changes in his life. It is presented as a timeline on a social networking site. It will introduce serious games and simulation in child protection as a topic and participants will consider the value and possibilities of technology in direct work with young people. It is particularly relevant for students planning to work with young people and will help you to consider and imagine the pressures and vulnerability of young people to exploitation.
