Developing an evidence base for adult social care practice

The Tizard Centre and Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) at the University of Kent have been successful in their joint application to be members of the refreshed National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Social Care Research.

Following an open competition, an independent expert panel selected Kent as one of five universities to be designated as NIHR School for Social Care Research (SSCR) Members.

The universities were selected for the strength of their track record in research, the quality of research outputs relevant to adult social care practice, their critical mass of social care researchers, the relevance of their work and the strength of their submitted strategic plans.

The NIHR SSCR was established in 2009 to develop the evidence base for adult social care practice in England by commissioning and conducting world class research.
