Three students taking the taught Masters course in ‘Fundraising and Philanthropy‘ have successfully passed a vocational qualification in fundraising. All students taking the academic module are encouraged to simultaneously study for the Introductory Certificate in Fundraising, which is administered by the professional body overseeing the UK fundraising profession, the Institute of Fundraising. The module is convened by Dr Beth Breeze, who worked as a fundraiser for a decade before joining the university. She said: “I am delighted that three of our students will graduate with a vocational qualification in addition to the academic qualification they should gain this summer. There is a shortage of qualified fundraisers in the UK, so it should prove to be a useful addition to the CV of anyone hoping to work in the charity sector”.
