Peter Taylor-Gooby took part in a lively debate on Charities on Sky 199. He pointed out that low income people give proportionately more than high income people, that most charities have little to do with the real needs most people experience in their lives and that charity is really a drop in the ocean when unemployment is rocketing, more people are losing their homes than at any time since the war and essential welfare state services are being cut back harshly.
