Professor Nigel Mason and former PhD student Dr Sohan Jeetha, as part of outreach and education in Africa have sponsored a student.<\/p>\n

Masauko Utila<\/strong> from Malawi attended a Masters course in Taiwan. Nigel and Sohan are delighted that Masauko has graduated this month\u00a0 Malawi is recognised as one of the poorest countries in Africa (and the world) and has lowest graduate training. We are supporting him as part of a programme for helping students identified with outstanding potential, the expectation of them, is to return to help their country develop, His project was chosen as being relevant to sustainable energy programme in Malawi\/Africa.<\/div>\n

Masaukos’ research was in in the department of opto-electronics and the title of his thesis is: ‘The influence of passivation layers on Light and Elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID) behaviors of silicon solar cells’!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

‘Here are some photos I took in a graduation gown, this year’s\u00a0 graduation was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic. Here, a student can graduate even before a thesis is done, however, a certificate is collected after completing all the course requirements and thesis.’<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
