{"id":1431,"date":"2019-04-30T11:08:18","date_gmt":"2019-04-30T10:08:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/spskent\/?p=1431"},"modified":"2019-04-30T11:08:18","modified_gmt":"2019-04-30T10:08:18","slug":"fantastic-paid-internship-opportunity-for-sps-students-interested-in-teaching-physics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/spskent\/2019\/04\/30\/fantastic-paid-internship-opportunity-for-sps-students-interested-in-teaching-physics\/","title":{"rendered":"Fantastic paid internship opportunity for SPS students interested in teaching Physics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">SPS is excited to offer a paid, 4-week teaching internship running between 17th June &#8211; 12th July for penultimate year students who are interested in inspiring the next generation of Physics students. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>What is the opportunity?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are offering a paid, 4-week teaching internship running from <strong><em>17<sup>th<\/sup> June &#8211; 12th July.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have designed an exciting programme that brings you directly into the classroom to gain first-hand experience of classroom teaching.<\/p>\n<p>You will start off as a teaching assistant, moving to leading study groups and co-teaching lessons alongside experienced teachers. \u00a0During the final week we aim to get you teaching whole lessons independently.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Who we are looking for?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are in your penultimate year of university studying a STEM based subject, have an A level in maths or physics and are considering teaching you should apply!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>How will we prepare you?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will be assigned an experienced teacher as a mentor that you can observe and work with to develop your understanding of how to design and deliver a lesson.<\/p>\n<p>You will be based in a subject department with access to resources and colleagues to discuss best practice and prepare for your teaching experience.<\/p>\n<p>Each week you will receive training to discuss strategies to help you move forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>How can you apply and by when?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please complete the online application form found by clicking on the following link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stgeorgesrc.org\/about-us\/teacher-training\/internship\/\">https:\/\/www.stgeorgesrc.org\/about-us\/teacher-training\/internship\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The application <strong><em>deadline is the May 1st<\/em><\/strong>. Successful candidates will be informed on a rolling basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>What funding is provided?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We will provide you with 4 weekly payments of \u00a3300 as well as provide you with a free lunch.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>Where will I be based?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interns can be placed in any of our schools across our academy trust including:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; St George\u2019s catholic school, Maida Vale<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Bishop Douglas Catholic School, Finchley<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; St Thomas More Catholic School, Wood Green<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><u>How could this help experience help you become a future teacher?<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We aim to give you an experience that mirrors real teacher training programmes to help you decide if it is a potential career path for you.
