Why Diamond Light Source?
Diamond Light Source is one of the world’s leading scientific research establishments, and the UK’s national synchrotron science facility. Working like a giant microscope, the synchrotron harnesses the power of electrons to produce bright light that scientists can use to study anything from fossils to jet engines to viruses and vaccines.

Summer Placement Projects with Diamond
Diamond are providing a fantastic opportunity for SPS students over the summer. Not only can the summer placement enhance your skills and experience, but Diamond can also help you build and gain further support on:
- Presentation Training
- Public engagement
- Python programming
- Scientific Poster Design
- An internal programme of seminars and talks from leading scientists
- Invitations to tours and talks from ISIS and the Central Laser facility including other science facilities
The placements are paid at a rate of £15,749pa on a pro-rata basis, and successful applicants can work within a number of subject areas.
