Year in Industry with Roche
Students of Chemistry and Forensics, please be aware that some schemes for a full year in industry such as that offered by Roche (The RiCH Programme) open during the summer break and close very early indeed. In the case of Roche, the opening date is July the 7th. Information can be found using the links and the slides uploaded from their webcast last year to help you.
If any of you are considering applications to the above scheme or similar, please contact Annmarie, our SPS Employability Officer, if you would like to have a quick chat before you leave for the summer.
Note Your Amazing Achievements
Now that you are coming to the end of the exams season it is time to relax, slow down and take stock of all of the amazing achievements that you have clocked up this year! They might be academic, extra or co-curricular or a combination of all three.
So, find a spot in the sunshine and jot them all down ready to add to MyFolio. It is so easy to forget things once you busy up again in the autumn term, complete your summer placement or take off on a year in industry or graduate! When it comes to filling out those applications you will be grateful for the aide memoire and reflective tool that is MyFolio.
The Careers Service Drop In
The Careers Service drop in hours and appointment systems change slightly over the summer months, please be aware of this if you want to be seen. Drop in appointments are good for quick queries and CV checks.
The guidance appointments system is for those students who are struggling to make career decisions and need some guidance to help them through this decision making and very reflective process.
Support after Graduation
For finalists in all subjects, if you have not planned your next steps it is of vital importance that you book an appointment at the Careers and Employability Centre in Keynes to discuss this with an adviser. Ensure that you are utilising all resources such as Gradcracker, TargetConnect, Indeed and any other sites or organisations that are recruiting Graduates.
For those of you moving into your final year this autumn, the time to start researching companies is now. Remember to keep an eye on Company and Organisation webpages from here on in as some schemes open and close early. The website Save the Student put together this handy little guide last year which is expected to be updated over the summer. However, in the meantime you can use this to start working on your own timeline and company research.
