Meet Your Academic- Dr Timothy Kinnear

Admissions Officer for Undergraduate Physics, Astrophysics and Astronomy Programmes

Meet Dr Timothy Kinnear, admissions officer for Undergraduate Physics, Astrophysics and Astronomy Programmes. Dr Kinnear is a favourite amongst the staff and students at the University and is always happy to stop and have a chat at our Applicant and Open Days.

Dr Kinnear studied for his BSc and MSc in Physics at the University of Warwick and went on to complete his PhD in Physics at the University of Kent in 2015, his thesis being ‘Investigation into triggered star formation by radiative driven implosion’. Whilst at the University, he was a sessional demonstrator, Advanced IT Support Technician, managing the TOR server, as well as participating in the teaching of students on IT-related modules, before taking on a lectureship role.

Dr Kinnear is a member of the Centre for Astrophysics and Planetary Science, whose research interests are in computational astrophysics, especially hydrodynamic simulation and radiative transfer, and particularly in relation to debris disks and hydrodynamic behaviour in HII regions.
