A huge congratulations to our School of Computing (SOC) Stage 1 student Ben Pomfey for winning the British Computer Society Prize!
The prize is sponsored by the British Computer Society, and it is awarded to the Stage 1 student with the highest overall grade for their first year of study at the University. Ben has worked incredibly hard and has been awarded this fantastic prize for all their hard work in achieving fantastic results. This prize comes with a free British Computer Society (BCS) membership for the remainder of their course!
The British Computer Society is The Chartered Institute for IT, which supports its members to gain the skills, expertise, and connections they need to develop their career, shape the digital future, and be recognised by trusted professionals. Ben’s prize was presented by Bob Eager earlier this month. Bob Eager has dedicated 45 years of his career and expertise to the University of Kent. After studying at Kent and completing studies as a Postgraduate student, Bob went on to become a lecturer and has had a teaching career spanning 37 years. Bob combined teaching with managing the operating system and the University’s mainframes and has also worked as the Admissions Officer for 13 years. Bob continues to support computing in education and has been an inspiration to many staff and students in this field.
