{"id":707,"date":"2018-07-25T09:27:35","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T08:27:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/?p=707"},"modified":"2018-07-25T09:27:35","modified_gmt":"2018-07-25T08:27:35","slug":"software-developer-folkestone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/2018\/07\/25\/software-developer-folkestone\/","title":{"rendered":"Software Developer Folkestone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saga are recruiting for a Software Developer Level 3 to join the Call Centre Technologies Team in Middelburg Square Folkestone.<br \/>\nYou will be required to work within the Groups Call Centre Technologies (CC Tech) team, encompassing the development and support of the core CRM\/CTI applications utilising .net and oracle technologies and Thunderhead amongst others.<br \/>\nYou will be required to have knowledge of .NET 4.5 , C#, Winforms, WPF, Oracle\\MS SQL, Unit Testing, Source Control technologies to enable you to undertake programming, program fixes and system enhancements and systems analysis.<br \/>\nIf this role is of interest to you please keep reading&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>Role Responsibility<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Provide regular progress reports to Manager<br \/>\n\u2022 Adhere to Company and Departmental standards<br \/>\n\u2022 Troubleshooting, i.e. investigation and resolution of problems reported by users<br \/>\n\u2022 Programming and capture\/definition of requirements for program fixes and system enhancements and systems analysis. Programming to be in relevant languages as appropriate. Unit testing, system testing and user training to be undertaken. Assist users with their acceptance testing<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist in the provision of estimates for fixes\/enhancements as requested by IT Management<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure that all work undertaken has been documented on the correct forms with authorising signatures in place before putting the fix\/enhancement forward for application to the \u2018live\u2019, under Change and Release Management guidelines<br \/>\n\u2022 You will work in a team providing core functionality to a multi-site call centre<br \/>\n\u2022 You will work on a mixture of in-house and 3rd party solutions as well as the integration among them<br \/>\n\u2022 Services provided by the team range from CRM and CTI to document fulfilment and archiving<br \/>\n\u2022 The team actively develops in C# and .NET4.5 but supports legacy VB.NET codebases which you will be expected to help maintain<br \/>\n\u2022 You will have the latest development toolsets available to you, along with access to training resources<br \/>\n\u2022 The team works primarily on desktop client applications, although some small components are developed using ASP.NET MVC<br \/>\n\u2022 Support the Technical Business Analyst to establish business requirements<br \/>\n\u2022 Support the Technical Business Analyst to perform a detailed analysis of user requirements for new and the continued maintenance\/enhancement of existing systems. Provide advice where alternative solutions exist<br \/>\n\u2022 Contribute to the production of Terms of Reference where applicable<br \/>\n\u2022 Contribute to Feasibility Studies<br \/>\n\u2022 Contribute to the Cost\/benefit business justification activities<br \/>\n\u2022 Estimation of effort for fixes\/enhancements\/new systems, as requested by the business stakeholders<br \/>\n\u2022 Support the Technical Business Analyst to produce Functional Specifications using jargon-free language which can be understood by users. Give formal presentations where appropriate<br \/>\n\u2022 Produce Technical Specifications where appropriate<br \/>\n\u2022 Systems design<br \/>\n\u2022 Solid application and database design skills<br \/>\n\u2022 Programming in relevant languages, as appropriate, with adherence to the best practice in terms of coding, security, usability and accessibility standards<br \/>\n\u2022 Unit testing, system testing and user training. Assist users with their acceptance testing<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure that all work undertaken has been documented on the correct forms with appropriate sign-offs before putting the fix\/enhancement\/new system forward for promotion to the &#8216;Live&#8217; environment in accordance with the Change and Release Management Process (Fast Track or Release)<br \/>\n\u2022 Ensure that appropriate levels of documentation are in place<br \/>\n\u2022 Any other duties requested by IT Management<br \/>\n\u2022 There will be project work to complete, which should be done in a professional manner<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage any risks or controls delegated to this position, as detailed in the relevant risk registers, in line with the business&#8217;s risk policy<br \/>\n\u2022 Any other duties requested by Management<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Ideal Candidate<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Education and Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Degree standard or equivalent<br \/>\n<strong>Personal Characteristics:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to communicate at all levels<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to think and work individually and as part of a team<br \/>\n\u2022 Good time management<br \/>\n\u2022 Commitment<br \/>\n\u2022 You will have demonstrable experience of using Oracle or MS SQL<br \/>\n\u2022 Expert understanding and utilising core Analysis and Development technologies as well as tools for modelling\/simulation, planning, prototyping and mocking etc.<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrable knowledge of Unit Testing and Continuous Integration using Nunit\\XUnit, TFS, MSBuild or similar<br \/>\no Knowledge or understanding of MVVM frameworks such as Caliburn Micro or ReactiveUI<br \/>\no Driven problem solver, able to work through problems to their resolution.<br \/>\no Good knowledge of Windows Server<br \/>\no Understanding of PCI, DPA and other relevant legal\/governance frameworks for safe guarding customer and company data<br \/>\no Appreciation for usability design considerations<br \/>\no Ability to write well-structured and commented programs<br \/>\n<strong>Required<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 .NET 4.5 (2yrs), C#, Winforms, WPF, Oracle\\MS SQL, Unit Testing (2yrs), Source Control<br \/>\n<strong>Desirable<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 MVVM, RX, WebAPI, WCF, VB.NET, LINQ, XUNIT\\NUNIT, Continous Integration, TFS, Moq, Entity Framework, ADO.NET, Enterprise Library, Resharper.
