{"id":422,"date":"2017-10-26T14:50:49","date_gmt":"2017-10-26T13:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/?p=422"},"modified":"2017-10-26T14:50:49","modified_gmt":"2017-10-26T13:50:49","slug":"professional-opportunities-for-postgraduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/2017\/10\/26\/professional-opportunities-for-postgraduates\/","title":{"rendered":"Professional Opportunities for Postgraduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Graduate School and Kent Innovation and Enterprise are collaborating to launch a placement scheme providing professional opportunities for postgraduate researchers in the 2017\/18 academic year.\u00a0 There will be a stipend for postgraduates who participate in the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>They will be holding a launch event between <strong>12.30 <\/strong>and <strong>2.00pm<\/strong> on <strong>Wednesday 15<sup>th<\/sup> November<\/strong> <strong>2017<\/strong> in the Graduate School Training Room (Cornwallis East). This event is open to both staff members and postgraduate researchers and will include information on the scheme as well as presentations from representatives who have benefitted from taking part in a placement or fixed term role with an organisation or business. Presentations will take place between 12.30 and 1.15 followed by a light lunch and networking.<\/p>\n<p>Please book a place by completing the following <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/doodle.com\/poll\/eyizpqyffa42yfeh\">doodle poll<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scheme will enable our postgraduate researchers to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake a full or part time opportunity working with a business or organisation<\/li>\n<li>Bring their expertise to a discrete project or problem<\/li>\n<li>Extend their skills, knowledge and experience in a commercial environment<\/li>\n<li>Take part in a programme supporting knowledge transfer and University-business engagement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Placements will also provide an excellent opportunity for academic schools to deepen their relationships with employers.\u00a0 Enquiries and applications will be welcome from businesses, organisations and postgraduates following the launch until the closing date of <strong>14<sup>th<\/sup> February 2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>More information about how to apply and the criteria for applications linked to Industrial Strategy funding will be provided at the launch event.
