Graduate Junior Test Automation Engineer – <\/a><\/strong>Helvar, Dartford Kent – deadline 6 May 2021<\/p>\nGraduate Embedded Software Engineer<\/strong><\/p>\nMain purpose of the role<\/strong><\/p>\nThe\u00a0development of\u00a0embedded\u00a0software\u00a0for products and\u00a0systems\u00a0used as intelligent edge devices in lighting control applications.\u00a0This will cover\u00a0specification,\u00a0architecture, structured design,\u00a0implementation,\u00a0and test.\u00a0It\u00a0will\u00a0involve\u00a0the development of bare metal programming\u00a0on\u00a0modern micro-controller\u2019s,\u00a0with constrained\u00a0resources\u00a0and\u00a0real-time\u00a0inter-action with\u00a0electronics\u00a0hardware.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/span>Key areas of responsibility\u00a0and key actions<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Work with the team to break down\u00a0epics to stories and sub-tasks and provide\u00a0time estimates<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Design,\u00a0implementation, and test of embedded software\u00a0modules<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Show\u00a0progression on assigned tasks through\u00a0demonstration<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Ensure\u00a0software is stored and maintained\u00a0under source code\u00a0control<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Documentation of\u00a0design<\/span><\/li>\n
- Participation in peer design \/ code reviews<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Implementation of unit tests<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Core\u00a0competences, knowledge and skills\u00a0required\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Engineering degree in Electronics\u00a0and\/or Software<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Programming experience in C\/ C++\u00a0on embedded target<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Use of scripting languages such as Python or Bash\u00a0would\u00a0be\u00a0beneficial<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Use of test equipment e.g. Oscilloscope<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
- Good problem solving with\u00a0strong and rational approach to debugging<\/span><\/li>\n
- Understanding or use of GitHub<\/span><\/li>\n
- Knowledge of modern\u00a0software methodologies such\u00a0as\u00a0Agile<\/span><\/li>\n
- Good communication skills both written and oral<\/span><\/li>\n
- Shows passion for their subject and a desire to\u00a0deliver\u00a0on-time with high quality<\/span><\/li>\n
- Needs to work well in a multi-national team<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
