{"id":2122,"date":"2021-02-12T10:57:14","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T10:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/?p=2122"},"modified":"2021-02-12T10:59:35","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T10:59:35","slug":"2122","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/soc-employability\/2021\/02\/12\/2122\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Hashcode 2021-Registration now open!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">Google Hashcode 2021<br \/>\nThursday 25 February at 17.30-21.30<br \/>\nUniversity of Kent Hub<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s team-based programming competition, Hash Code, allows you to share your skills and connect with other coders as you work together to solve a problem modeled off a real Google engineering challenge! In small teams of two to four, coders all over the world will tackle the first problem through Online Qualifications. Though this round is hosted online, teams can come together virtually to compete side-by-side in locally coordinated Hash Code Hubs. The top teams from this round are invited to join us for the virtual World Finals.<\/p>\n<p>We have set up a University of Kent Hub so you can join up with other Kent Students and\/or set up your own team and go into a break out room to solve the challenge.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/codingcompetitions.withgoogle.com\/hashcode\/register\">Register now<\/a> and join the University of Kent hub (registration closes 24 February at 11.00)<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve registered for the contest, you\u2019ll gain access to the Judge System. The Judge System is the online platform where you\u2019ll form your team, join a Hub, practice, and compete during the rounds. During the Online Qualifications, you\u2019ll watch our YouTube livestream to be introduced to the problem, and your team will have four hours to solve an optimization problem using the programming language and tools of your choice. Teams can also compete alongside other teams in your area by joining a virtual Hub.
