Business Start-Up Journey 2020-21

Business Start-up Journey

Be inspired at the launch of this year’s Business Start-Up Journey with talks by student entrepreneurs and keynote speech on the power of business to change the world.

The Business Start-Up Journey is the University’s flagship progamme for supporting students who want to start their own business and develop entrepreneurial skills.

A 15-week co-curricular programme, the Journey, open to all students at the University of Kent, provides a roadmap to finding and developing a business idea and taking it to launch.

The Journey combines practical, fun and interactive group workshops with one-to-one advice sessions with the ASPIRE’s Entrepreneurs in Residence and network of mentors.

A pitching competition at the end of the programme offers the chance for the winning student to take away a £1,000 prize to help start their business.

Find out more at the inspiring and interactive launch event on Wednesday 21 October where there will be the chance to meet the ASPIRE team and meet student entrepreneurs who started their own business.

Andrew Christopher is the founder of L-Drive, an online platform disrupting the learner driver market.

Andrew graduated from Kent Business School after winning the Business Start-Up Journey pitching finals in 2019. He will be talking about developing his app supported by ASPIRE and the Santander Universities Emerging Entrepreneurs programme.

Molly Walsh is a final year Sports Science student who is launching a new drink aimed at the health and fitness market.

Molly took part in last year’s Business Start-Up Journey and will be talking about how she has been developing her business.

Dr Mick Jackson is keynote speaker for the launch. A serial entrepreneur, Mick is the founder of WildHearts, a multi-million-pound group created with the sole aim of using their profits to help humanity.

Backed by leading corporates and global business leaders, to date WildHearts has transformed over 1 million lives globally; from empowering women and girls in low-income countries through education and finance, to providing free entrepreneurship training for young people across the UK, with their multi-award winning entrepreneurship training programme, Micro-Tyco.
