The Hackathon will bring together 21 students with one purpose in mind – to create an app to enhance the student journey when joining a University, from navigating those early daunting first steps of where to go and what to do, through to a useful tool to enhance the student experience at University. You will have 48 hours to create a prototype app – no coding experience necessary just a creative mind!

Positive and engaging experience for Kent students: New and existing Kent students are challenged at specific points of their academic career understanding what information is available, when certain events are happening and finding consistent information. Your challenge is to develop a solution that is inclusive, accessible by all types of users, be device agnostic, sustainable and engaging leading to improved student academic performance and wellbeing. This prototype of a startup idea is however encouraged to be developed for sale to all Universities across the globe. All IP generated throughout the event will be owned by the student teams.

Better still the best app will secure £1,000 seed funding to help turn this winning business idea into reality. The hackathon will be led by Paul Swaddle OBE from Pocket APP who has years of experience of app development and supporting new and early stage startups.

On the final day, after the 48 hours is over, you will present your apps to the University judging panel who will select their winner.
The event will take place on the 17th-19th June in Templeman Library Seminar Room 5, kicking off at 12pm on Monday 17th June.
