The Global Trading Research division is responsible for the design and implementation Instinet’s industry-leading algorithmic trading platform. The group undertakes independent quantitative research to produce insightful trading strategies which underpin the competitive edge of our trading systems.

Since its inception in 1969 Instinet has been at the forefront of electronic trading; embracing software to build innovative trading products.

Internship Program

The ten-week summer internship program has been designed to give students experience of working in a fast-paced software-oriented trading group with the opportunity to:

• Design, implement and test Instinet’s software platforms
• Enhance technical skills; writing code, code reviews, testing, etc.
• Work in an agile, cross-functional development team
• Involvement with the architecture and technical design of system features
• Gain an in-depth understanding of algorithmic and electronic trading

What type of candidates are we looking for?

Given the technical nature of the role candidates should be studying for an undergraduate degree in a computer science or engineering discipline and be able to demonstrate practical programming experience in one of more of the following technologies:

• Java
• C/C++
• Javascript
• Python
• Linux
• Android / iOS

Academic credentials (minimum 2:1 predicted results) are important. Enthusiasm, natural curiosity and an aptitude for problem solving is highly valued.
