There are a few things to keep in mind when collecting your A Level results:<\/p>\n

  1. Sleep is your friend<\/strong>\u00a0Having a good night\u2019s sleep will prepare you for the momentous day ahead, ensuring that you will have the energy and clear head needed to take-on whatever happens.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Check UCAS or collect results first?
      \n<\/strong>Some students log on to UCAS Track first thing to see if they\u2019ve been accepted onto their chosen course before collecting their A Level results. Others, collect their results before checking Track. There\u2019s no right or wrong way to find out whether you\u2019ve got into your chosen university. Checking UCAS Track before collecting your results can indicate how you\u2019ve done in your exams and help you prepare to discuss your options with your college\/sixth form, universities or UCAS.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. Don\u2019t assume anything
        \n<\/strong>If you collect your results and they\u2019re not as you were expecting, don\u2019t automatically assume that you haven\u2019t got into your chosen university or that all is lost. Talk to a member of staff<\/strong> at your college\/sixth form<\/strong> about your grades and your options. In some cases, you may be able to apply for a remark. Your college\/sixth form can provide you with more information about how to apply for a remark. Check the status of your application on UCAS Track<\/strong> before making any hasty decisions. If you haven\u2019t got into your first choice or insurance university, don\u2019t panic! Many universities will have clearing vacancies in the subject area that you\u2019re interested in.<\/p>\n

        1. Enter Clearing with an open mind
          \n<\/strong>Clearing can be overwhelming. You\u2019ll be presented with lots of choices, so it\u2019s vital that you think carefully, but flexibly about your options. Look at courses closely related to your original firm choice and find out some more information about the universities offering them. Don\u2019t be afraid to contact potential university choices before making a clearing application to get more information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Remember you have other options
            \n<\/strong>There are lots of ways to start a career. University is just one in a whole host of options. If you need to take a year to think about it, or you\u2019d like to take some time to explore the world, employment or other options, you can defer university entry for a year. Or, if you decide that university isn\u2019t for you, there are many other pathways to building a great career. Don\u2019t hesitate to ask questions, seek support and investigate other avenues.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              1. Talk through your options and don\u2019t rush
                \n<\/strong>It can be easy to rush through big decisions on results day. Whether you\u2019re considering Clearing, Adjustment, deferred entry, taking a gap year, an apprenticeship, a traineeship or entering employment, take your time to decide what is right for you. There\u2019s no need to rush into any decision on results day. If you need to, sleep on your decision or take a few days to consider your options.Talk with friends, family, members of staff at your college\/sixth form, UCAS advisers, Universities and other training providers, check out forums and online platforms, and gather as much information as possible before making a decision.<\/p>\n
