Meet Fabian, one of our ambassadors!

What are you studying?  

Ph.D. Statistics.

What Stage will you be in during 2019? 

1st year.

Where are you from? 

Guyana, South America.

How long have you been an ambassador and what made you want to become one? 

I’ve been an ambassador for 2 years. The reason I chose to become an ambassador is that it provides me with the opportunity to do meaningful work as well as a source of income.

What’s your favourite part about being an ambassador? 

The gratification of sharing my knowledge and seeing others understand mathematical and statistical concepts.

What kind of work have you been involved in as an ambassador?

  1. Maths Tutor for GCSE students at Royal Harbour Academy in Ramsgate,
  2.  Created and lead finance workshop with another ambassador for Business Enterprise events,
  3. Supported Royal Institution Primary Masterclasses by encouraging and helping students throughout the interactive sessions.

What’s your favourite thing about being at the University of Kent?

The ability to have expert guidance and ambiance of like-minded individuals.

Do you have any advice/tips for prospective students?

Set goals for the academic year and importantly plan how you are going to achieve them. Work hard, enjoy the experience and stay true to yourself.
