Ambassador Bio- Katie Cameron

Meet Katie, one of our ambassadors!

What are you studying?

Mathematics BSc.

What Stage will you be in during 2019?

Second year.

Where are you from?

Ashford, Kent.

How long have you been an ambassador and what made you want to become one?

I’ve only been an ambassador for a year. I was never the best at maths at school and it was only until the second half of sixth form that I started to really enjoy solving the maths problems that were thrown at me. Once you find something you like doing I think it’s important to share that enthusiasm and this is what being a maths ambassador has allowed me to do.

What’s your favourite part about being an ambassador?

I love meeting and getting to talk to a wide range of people.

What kind of work have you been involved in as an ambassador?

I have delivered sessions at an event for local schools as well as helping out at lots of other occasions. I have also worked on clearing, open days and applicant days.

What’s your favourite thing about being at the University of Kent?

The campus is lovely and friendly with everything that you could possibly need on it. I also have the added benefit that it’s only a small train ride away from home.

Do you have any advice/tips for prospective students?

Pay attention during lectures! And just be yourself when getting to know people.
