{"id":714,"date":"2017-12-06T09:53:53","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T09:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/?p=714"},"modified":"2019-01-15T13:38:26","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T13:38:26","slug":"professor-elizabeth-mansfield-to-give-christmas-lecture-at-the-london-taught-course-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/professor-elizabeth-mansfield-to-give-christmas-lecture-at-the-london-taught-course-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Elizabeth Mansfield to give Christmas Lecture at the London Taught Course Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Elizabeth Mansfield from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science will deliver the London Taught Course Centre&#8217;s (LTCC) Christmas Lecture on &#8216;Induction to Moving Frames and its Applications&#8217; at University College London on Monday 11 December.<\/p>\n<p>The talk will be followed by a launch event for the LTCC&#8217;s book on Advanced Mathematics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Abstract<\/strong>:<br \/>\nI will give a gentle introduction to moving frames as they are now understood. Although the term is associated with Elie Cartan, the ideas underlying moving\u00a0frames have a long history in differential geometry.
