{"id":1810,"date":"2021-10-12T15:22:36","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T14:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/?p=1810"},"modified":"2021-10-12T15:22:58","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T14:22:58","slug":"welcome-to-dr-bruno-santos-lecturer-in-statistics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/welcome-to-dr-bruno-santos-lecturer-in-statistics\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome to Dr Bruno Santos, Lecturer in Statistics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A very warm welcome to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/mathematics-statistics-actuarial-science\/people\/3911\/santos-bruno\">Dr Bruno Santos<\/a>, who has joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/mathematics-statistics-actuarial-science\/\">School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science<\/a> as Lecturer in Statistics.<\/p>\n<p>Bruno obtained his BSc and MSc in Statistics from University of S\u00e3o Paulo in Brazil. During his PhD in Statistics, he was supervised by Professor Heleno Bolfarine, at University of S\u00e3o Paulo, with a one year period at Duke University.<\/p>\n<p>He has worked as an Assistant Professor in two Brazilian universities, Federal University of Bahia, in Salvador, and Federal University of Esp\u00edrito Santo, in Vit\u00f3ria. Bruno also spent a period at Georg-August-Universit\u00e4t G\u00f6ttingen, as a Postdoctoral Researcher, with Professor Thomas Kneib.<\/p>\n<p>Bruno&#8217;s research focuses on quantile regression models and other flexible regression models, mostly considering Bayesian approaches.
