{"id":1359,"date":"2019-02-08T13:49:25","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T13:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/?p=1359"},"modified":"2019-05-21T13:56:03","modified_gmt":"2019-05-21T12:56:03","slug":"dr-clare-dunning-spoke-at-mathematical-physics-event-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/dr-clare-dunning-spoke-at-mathematical-physics-event-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Clare Dunning Spoke at Mathematical Physics Event in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Head of Group and Reader in Mathematics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/mathematics-statistics-actuarial-science\/people\/414\/dunning-clare\">Dr Clare Dunning<\/a>, from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/smsas\">School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science<\/a> (SMSAS) at the University of Kent, presented a plenary talk at the\u00a0Seventh Annual Meeting of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Mathematical Physics (ANZAMP) in Merimbula, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Clare presented a talk titled, &#8216;Wronskian Hermite Polynomials and the Excited-state ODE\/IM Correspondence&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Wronskian determinants of classical orthogonal polynomials have a number of applications in mathematical physics. For example, they are: building blocks of certain rational solutions of the Painleve equations;\u00a0 the main classes of examples of exceptional orthogonal polynomials;\u00a0 certain solutions of the Kadomtzev-Petviashvili hierarchy of partial differential equations in integrable systems. I will describe how Wronskian Hermite and Wronskian Laguerre determinants describe the excited-state ordinary differential equation\/integrable model correspondence at the free-fermion point of the sine-Gordon model.
