{"id":1014,"date":"2018-06-28T09:50:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T08:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/?p=1014"},"modified":"2019-01-15T13:36:40","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T13:36:40","slug":"professor-elizabeth-mansfield-recognised-by-the-institute-of-mathematics-and-its-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/smsasnews\/professor-elizabeth-mansfield-recognised-by-the-institute-of-mathematics-and-its-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Elizabeth Mansfield Recognised by the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor of Mathematics, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/smsas\/our-people\/profiles\/mansfield_elizabeth.html\">Professor Elizabeth Mansfield<\/a>, from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at Kent, collected a Certificate of Service from the <a href=\"https:\/\/ima.org.uk\/\">Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (IMA)<\/a> during a celebration of Chartered Mathematicians at the IMA&#8217;s Presidential address last night (Wednesday 27 June 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth was the first female mathematician to progress to Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kent. She is currently the Vice-President of the IMA, with responsibility for Learned Societies, and is Chair of the IMA Research Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth is also a Fellow of the IMA and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amsi.org.au\">Austrailian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lms.ac.uk\/\">London Mathematical Society (LMS)<\/a> Programme Committee.
