The School has invested significantly this year in updating our research computing capabilities, with the newest server – named Noether – now available for the use of SMSAS researchers. The summer is traditionally a time when computational work steps up several gears so the timing of this addition to our computing capabilities is just right.
The School has also replaced our veteran web server Mango with a new and more powerful server that upholds the “soft fruit” naming convention in it’s name Quince. (Our research servers have traditionally taken the name of leading figures in the worlds of Mathematics and Statistics.)
More information about the server specifications, and very importantly our Acceptable Use guidelines, updated this week, are available at http://www.kent.ac.uk/smsas/resources/servers-aup.pdf (PDF, 483 KB).
