Student Spotlight | Maimuna Ikram – BSc Mathematics

Maimuna shares her experiences studying BSc Mathematics in at the University of Kent.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Kent?

I chose Kent because I liked Canterbury. The campus is very nice and green, and I liked the modules on the Maths course.

What is the best thing about studying in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science?

The lecturers are all very friendly and willing to help me if I am stuck.

What have you found most interesting on your course?

I’ve found Number Theory the most interesting module on my course.

Have you found the School to be supportive? If so, how has the School supported you?

The School has been extremely supportive! Whenever I have had a question, they have always helped me, and the lecturers are so helpful.

What do you think of the Sibson Building?
What do you think the Building means for students within the School?

I LOVE the Sibson Building! It is a very nice building to learn and study in, especially the booths on the second and third floors. The Building is very important for students in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science as they have a place to go to and study. Everything is accessible and all in one place (lecture theatres, computer rooms, lecturers etc). It’s very useful and made my university life a lot easier.

Can you sum up your course in three words?

Interesting. Stimulating. Rewarding.

Would you recommend studying at Kent?

I would recommend studying at Kent because I have had a great experience both academically and socially!
