The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent, celebrated local excellence in teaching at the Kent Teacher of The Year Award 2019 on Friday 10 May at the Ashford International Hotel.
The School’s Administration Manager, John Crook, was proud to award Thomas Nyaku from Dartford Science and Technology College with the ‘Kent Maths Teacher of The Year’ Award for his innovative use of mathematical events and activities to enhance engagement and attainment in mathematics; as well as his on-going commitment to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed through his unique programme of activities to raise aspirations and close the gap between Pupil Premium and non-Pupil Premium students.
As winner of the Award, Thomas (pictured above, left, with John Crook), will have the opportunity to treat his pupils to a bespoke mathematics outreach event at Kent’s Canterbury campus.
