Professor of Mathematics, Professor Elizabeth Mansfield, from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at Kent, collected a Certificate of Service from the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (IMA) during a celebration of Chartered Mathematicians at the IMA’s Presidential address last night (Wednesday 27 June 2018).
Elizabeth was the first female mathematician to progress to Professor of Mathematics at the University of Kent. She is currently the Vice-President of the IMA, with responsibility for Learned Societies, and is Chair of the IMA Research Committee.
Elizabeth is also a Fellow of the IMA and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for Austrailian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI), and London Mathematical Society (LMS) Programme Committee. In addition, she is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Foundations of Computational Mathematics.
