A big thank you to all of you who participated in our 50th anniversary event “Celebrating 50 years of Kent and Solitons” in KLT2 on Saturday. The day was really successful and there were a lot of alumni attending! Some visitors even postponed their flights to be able to come to our event and to learn about solitons!
Particular thanks need to go to the following people:
- Mareike Haberichter and Joe Watkins for organising the event
- Peter Clarkson, Lucy Barnes and Argyro Mainou, Constanze Roitzheim and Jenny Ashcroft for great and inspiring talks
- Jing Ping Wang for talking to visitors about our degree programs
- Jenny Ashcroft for helping with the organisation
- Claire Carter and her daughter Lucy for setting up the coffee/cookie stand
- Clare Dunning for acting as chair
- Lucy Barnes and her husband Fred for helping with preparing the sensor demonstration for the tank
- The strong men: Bill Sakaria, Andrea Cremaschi and An Kang for moving all the furniture
- Eleni Matechou and George Papamikos for organising the Pub event
- This year’s Nuffield students Frazer Hope, Aiden McCall, Milgy Matthews and Alysha Sayer for all their work during the past four weeks and for presenting great posters during the coffee break
- The SMSAS ambassadors who helped us to take everything down after the event and with transporting the tank back
- Judith Broom for her help ordering smoke guns, water level sensors, graduated cylinders, arduinos, give aways etc.
A big thank you to all the SMSAS members who showed up on the day to attend the talks and to talk to the visitors.
