Applied Actuarial Science Student Shortlisted For Kent Student Award

MSc Applied Actuarial Science (International Masters) student, Vatsala Sodhani, from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent, has been shortlisted for a Kent Student Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Academic Communities‘.

Vatsala is an active member of the SMSAS community and has successfully balanced her wide range of student roles with her studies.

As a member of the Invicta Actuarial Society Committee, Vatsala has supported the Committee in hosting events for SMSAS students and staff, actively liaising with key stakeholders to promote the events to a wider audience, resulting in all of the Society’s events being well attended.

In her role as a Postgraduate Student Representative for Applied Actuarial Science, Vatsala has been proactive in collecting feedback from her course mates and disseminating this feedback to the relevant staff and via the School’s Student Voice Forum. Through her work, she is helping the School to identify areas of best practice, ensuring that more students can benefit from excellent teaching methods and online resources.

Vatsala is also one of the School’s Student Ambassadors, supporting the School’s recruitment and outreach activities, encouraging prospective students to come to Kent, and inspiring a new generation of young people to enjoy the mathematical sciences.

The winners of the Kent Student Awards will be announced during a gala dinner on Friday 31 May. The winner of each award will receive their very own brick in the University’s ‘Footsteps Path‘, a certificate and trophy, and their achievement will be recognised on their Higher Education Achievement Report when they graduate.
