Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science, Dr Pradip Tapadar, and PhD Researcher in Actuarial Science, Aniketh Pittea, from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent, gave a webcast titled, ‘Measuring Pension Plan Risk from an Economic Capital Perspective‘ on Wednesday 15 May.
The Webcast jointly sponsored by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Society of Actuaries (SoA), and CIA, saw Pradip and Aniketh, with Stephen Bonnar from the University of Waterloo, discuss the risk implications of different pension plan designs, and how financial risk can be affected by policies and other internal and external factors.
The research and themes presented are from the international research programme by the University of Kent and University of Waterloo (Canada), co-sponsored by the IFoA, to review the impact of an ageing population on asset values over long periods of time and the impact of large pension plans in the UK, the United States and Canada. Further information about this research can be found on the IFoA’s website.
