Lecturer in Statistics, Dr Rachel McCrea, from the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Kent, has been awarded a ‘New Investigator Grant’ from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for a project titled, `Modeling removal and re-introduction data for improved conservation’.
In this three-year project Rachel will develop new and practical statistical tools for conservationists to use, which will result in more accurate predictions on the health and sizes of endangered animal populations. She will be closely collaborating with various animal trusts to ensure real impact of her project.
