{"id":958,"date":"2013-06-20T09:15:27","date_gmt":"2013-06-20T09:15:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=958"},"modified":"2016-09-30T14:51:28","modified_gmt":"2016-09-30T13:51:28","slug":"poster-presentation-success-for-classics-postgrads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2013\/06\/20\/poster-presentation-success-for-classics-postgrads\/","title":{"rendered":"Poster presentation success for Classics postgrads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/graduateschool\/news\/pgresearchfestival2013.html\">3rd Annual Postgraduate Research Festival<\/a> took place at Kent on 18 June 2013 with\u00a0postgraduate students from all three Faculties presenting 40 posters in total\u00a0on areas of their research.<\/p>\n<p>Of the ten posters presented from the Faculty of Humanities, five were from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/index.html\">Classical &amp; Archaeological Studies<\/a> students, with doctoral student Paula Lock winning first prize for her poster on &#8216;Roman Taverns and Inns&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Very many congratulations to Paula on her excellent success.<\/p>\n<p>The four other poster presentations were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lynne Bennett,<br \/>\nFormulae in Roman Epitaphs: A New Perspective using Quantitative Spatial Epigraphy<\/li>\n<li>Thomas Goessans,<br \/>\nChristian Families in a Changing World: Ageing and Family Structures in Rome (300-700 AD): A Study of the Epigraphical Evidence<\/li>\n<li>Amy Hammett,<br \/>\nThe Clay Balls of Ancient Egypt<\/li>\n<li>Georgina Sheeran,<br \/>\nThe Stepmother in Latin Rhetoric<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incoming Head of Classics, Professor Karla Pollman, said of the event: &#8216;When I looked at the posters I was amazed both by the strong quantitative and qualitative presence of Classics.
