{"id":9501,"date":"2018-12-13T09:03:34","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T09:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=9501"},"modified":"2018-12-13T09:15:07","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T09:15:07","slug":"alex-marlow-mann-film-receives-premiere","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/12\/13\/alex-marlow-mann-film-receives-premiere\/","title":{"rendered":"Alex Marlow-Mann film receives premiere"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/staff\/marlow-mann.html\">Dr Alex Marlow-Mann<\/a>, Lecturer in Italian in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a>, has co-written, co-researched and co-produced <em>That\u2019s La Morte: Italian Cult Cinema<\/em> <em>and the Years of Lead<\/em>, a film that received its world premiere at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cine-excess.co.uk\/cine-excess-xii.html\">Cine-Excess film festival and conference in Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Several years in the making, this feature-length documentary draws on interviews with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cine-excess.co.uk\/thats-la-morte-gallery.html\">20 leading practitioners<\/a> (directors, producers, writers, actors and technicians).<\/p>\n<p>The documentary explores the ways in which Italian genre cinema (horror-thrillers, crime films and sex comedies) reflected and refracted the social and political anxieties of the so-called \u2018years of lead\u2019 \u2013 a turbulent decade characterised both by domestic terrorism and a radical reshaping of gender roles.
