{"id":9348,"date":"2018-11-15T12:23:49","date_gmt":"2018-11-15T12:23:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=9348"},"modified":"2018-11-20T12:10:40","modified_gmt":"2018-11-20T12:10:40","slug":"french-translation-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/11\/15\/french-translation-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Modern Languages organise French translation competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Sara-Louise Cooper, Lecturer in French in the School of European Culture &amp; Languages&#8217;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a>\u00a0is running a French translation competition for A level students.<\/p>\n<p>Entrants will translate a short passage by contemporary author Patrick Chamoiseau to be in with a chance of winning a prize. There will be a cash prize of \u00a350 for the winners and \u00a310 for two runners-up, and a book will be presented to their school libraries.\u00a0After the competition, local entrants will be invited to a translation workshop at the University of Kent to discuss the passage and learn more about the author.<\/p>\n<p>An optional lesson plan is available for teachers who would like to introduce Chamoiseau to their students.
