{"id":9246,"date":"2018-10-19T12:07:04","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T11:07:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=9246"},"modified":"2018-10-19T12:16:12","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T11:16:12","slug":"paul-march-russell-contributes-chapter-to-edited-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/10\/19\/paul-march-russell-contributes-chapter-to-edited-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul March-Russell contributes chapter to edited collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/staff\/march-russell.html\">Dr Paul March-Russell<\/a>, Lecturer for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Department of Comparative Literature<\/a>, has contributed a chapter to the edited collection <em>Gender and Short Fiction: Women\u2019s Tales in Contemporary Britain<\/em> (Routledge Studies in Contemporary Literature, 2018).<\/p>\n<p>In this new monograph, editors: Jorge Sacido-Romero and Laura Ma Lojo-Rodr\u00edguez, explain why artistically ambitious women writers continue turning to the short story, a genre that has not yet attained the degree of literary prestige and social recognition the novel has had in the modern period.<\/p>\n<p>The book is the culmination of a four-year project based at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usc.es\/en\/index.html\">University of Santiago de Compostela<\/a>, and comprises of researchers from across the UK and Europe, of which Paul was a founding member.
