{"id":9018,"date":"2018-08-09T09:37:32","date_gmt":"2018-08-09T08:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=9018"},"modified":"2018-09-21T14:46:08","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T13:46:08","slug":"secl-successes-in-the-nss-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/08\/09\/secl-successes-in-the-nss-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"SECL successes in the NSS 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestudentsurvey.com\/\">National Student Survey 2018<\/a>\u00a0(NSS) have now been released, revealing good news for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/index.html\">School of European Culture and Languages<\/a> (SECL).<\/p>\n<p>The NSS is an independent UK-wide survey of all higher education institutions, providing an opportunity for final-year students to independently rate their experience at university.<\/p>\n<p>The survey ran from January until April this year, targeting students towards the end of their degree, and\u00a0the results were recently published.<\/p>\n<p>Three of our subject areas ranked in the top ten, the results showing a major endorsement for the quality of our teaching.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/complit\/index.html\">Department of Comparative Literature<\/a> was ranked 2nd\u00a0in the UK, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">Department of English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a>\u00a0was ranked 6th, and Italian in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a> was ranked 5th.<\/p>\n<p>These results continue the successes seen by SECL in the independent rankings for university teaching in 2018, following on from <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk\/league-tables\/rankings\">The Complete University Guide<\/a><\/em> ranking Hispanic Studies 2nd\u00a0in the UK and Linguistics 5th in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to our academic and support staff for providing excellent teaching to achieve this result, and we would like to thank all of our students who participated in the survey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The results of the\u00a0National Student Survey 2018\u00a0(NSS) have now been released, revealing good news for the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL).
