{"id":8623,"date":"2018-05-11T09:15:35","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T08:15:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=8623"},"modified":"2018-05-11T09:15:35","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T08:15:35","slug":"congratulations-to-helen-hui-yueh-cheng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/05\/11\/congratulations-to-helen-hui-yueh-cheng\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to Helen Hui-Yueh Cheng"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/index.html\">Department of Modern Languages<\/a> is delighted to announce that Helen Hui-Yueh Cheng has completed her PhD in French, entitled \u2018In Search of an Individual Identity: A Psychoanalytical Examination of Motivational Forces behind the Identity Development of Female Characters in the Selected Works of Violette Leduc and Eileen Chang\u2019 under the supervision of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/modern-languages\/staff\/o-meara.html\">Dr Lucy O\u2019Mera<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Violette Leduc and Eileen Chang are brought together in this thesis for their portrayal of women characters in pursuit of a sense of identity and fulfillment in societies where gender roles can function as pseudo-destinies.
