{"id":8578,"date":"2018-04-11T17:31:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-11T16:31:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=8578"},"modified":"2018-04-11T17:31:44","modified_gmt":"2018-04-11T16:31:44","slug":"kent-to-host-2018-baap-colloquium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/04\/11\/kent-to-host-2018-baap-colloquium\/","title":{"rendered":"Kent to host 2018 BAAP colloquium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/ell\/index.html\">Department of English Language &amp; Linguistics<\/a> is delighted to be hosting the 2018 colloquium of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.baap.ac.uk\/index.html\">British Association of Academic Phoneticians<\/a> (BAAP), taking place at our Canterbury campus on 12-14 April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>BAAP is the professional organisation for phoneticians. Its members are involved in research, in teaching in higher education, and in the application of phonetic knowledge in areas such as speech and language therapy, speech technology and forensic science.<\/p>\n<p>The association holds a colloquium every two years. This provides an opportunity for members and invited participants to meet, present their research, and discuss issues of concern to the academic community<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 colloquium at Kent has attracted 116 attendees from all over the UK, as well as BAAP members and affiliates from abroad.
