{"id":8520,"date":"2018-04-04T10:50:21","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T09:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/?p=8520"},"modified":"2019-04-10T11:17:57","modified_gmt":"2019-04-10T10:17:57","slug":"competition-sea-eagles-of-the-empire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/secl-news-events\/2018\/04\/04\/competition-sea-eagles-of-the-empire\/","title":{"rendered":"Competition: Sea Eagles of the Empire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/classics\/news\/index.html?view=8338\">Writing History and Getting Published<\/a> panel held on 15 March, in which Amanda Thomas and Dr Simon Elliott, two authors who are both alumni from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/secl\/index.html\">School of European Culture and Languages<\/a>, talked about the process of research, writing, submitting and getting published, we have one signed copy of Simon\u2019s\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehistorypress.co.uk\/publication\/sea-eagles-of-empire\/9780750966023\/\">Sea Eagles of Empire: The Classis Britannica and the Battles for Britain<\/a><\/em>\u00a0(History Press, 2016)\u00a0to give away.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sea Eagles of Empire<\/em> was Simon\u2019s first book and won <em>Military History Monthly<\/em>\u2019s Book of the Year Award. It tells the story of the Classis Britannica, the British Roman Navy.
