The piece explores the rise of nationalist movements from a philosopher’s perspective, covering a range of thinkers including Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762-1814) and Ernest Gellner (1925-1969).

Edward questions the concept of nations in the piece: ‘definitions of nations in the relevant sense only really apply when there is something at stake, something to fight over, something that can be disputed, and this is paradigmatically territory.’

To read the full interview, please see the page here:
http://en.42-magazine.eu/index.php/2018/03/01/nationalism-and-philosophy/

Dr Edward Kanterian, Senior Lecturer in Department of Philosophy was interviewed for 42 Magazine, for a piece called ‘Nationalism and Philosophy’, published in Volume 2, … Read more

[135866,124,18570
